Coping strategies are the methods that people use in the face of stress and/or trauma to help manage painful or difficult emotions.

Healthy strategies help to reduce stress in a way that does not harm you. These include exercise, healthy eating and regular meals, drinking less caffeine, muscle relaxing exercises such as yoga or swimming and talking therapies.

Unhealthy coping strategies often provide instant gratification or relief but have long-term negative consequences.
